Our Mission
VBA exists to educate, inspire, and support the blacksmithing community through hands-on learning, demonstrations, mentorship, and shared experience.
We believe blacksmithing is more than a craft — it’s a living tradition that combines artistry, problem-solving, and skill. Through workshops, events, training programs, and member resources, we help preserve these traditions while encouraging innovation and creativity for future generations.
Who We Are
Our members include blacksmiths, artists, hobbyists, makers, educators, farriers, knife makers, welders, machinists, metal artists, and craftspeople from all backgrounds and skill levels.
What brings us together is a shared respect for craftsmanship and a willingness to learn from one another. IVBA is built on community, mentorship, and the passing of knowledge from one generation of smiths to the next.
Who We Are
We envision a thriving and inclusive blacksmithing community where traditional skills continue to evolve through education, collaboration, and public engagement.
As we grow, we aim to:
Welcome new generations of makers and metalworkers
Expand educational and training opportunities
Promote public appreciation for blacksmithing as both a craft and an art form
Support creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning within the metalworking community
